Light
Up Your Hair!
FAQ
Light up
your hair with Glowbys! Like stars, Glowbys shine more brightly the darker
it gets.
Great for Prom, parties, nightlife, holidays, concerts, performances,
weddings - any nighttime
event!
Glowbys
are illuminated thin fiber optic strands attached to the hair to create
many brilliant
stars of light (50-60 per Glowby!). A small barrette houses two tiny batteries
and a light
source, which lights up the ends of the fibers. Several patterns and lengths
are available, in
eight different colors. GLOWBYS ARE REUSABLE - you can wear them again
and again.
Just change the batteries when Glowbys become too dim, typically 8-12
hours. To turn off
Glowbys, just slide the lid slightly.
Wearing
Glowbys
The thin barrette can be worn under the hair so that only the lights are
visible, or it can be
worn like a normal barrette. For under the hair, attach underneath the
top layer of hair.
The barrette will be covered, but the Glowbys lights will still be visible.
See our
Glowbys colour
guide - All colors do not have the same brightness. White,
Green, Blue and Red are the brightest.
Styling
Glowbys
Glowbys come in a cascade cut pattern, but they can be arranged in almost
any pattern
depending on the your hair style. Use your imagination!
Caution: Do NOT use a curling iron or hair dryer on Glowbys; HIGH heat
will melt the plastic
fibers. Also, an overabundance of non-aerosol hairspray may cause the
fibers to stick
together. However, hairspray can be used to style the Glowbys with your
hairstyle.
Cutting
Glowbys
15" Glowbys can easily be cut with scissors to any shorter length.
Also, fibers may become
damaged if crimped; if so, simply cut the fiber above the damaged area.
To maximize
brightness, cut the fiber at a 45 degree angle.
Caution: Although fibers may be cut while illuminated, ALWAYS remove Glowbys
from head
before cutting. Children must only cut fibers with adult supervision.
Batteries
Two CR1620 batteries are required, with each pair typically lasting 8-12
hours. Glowbys
start out very bright, quickly level off, then brightness slowly decreases
over time. In a dark
room, Glowbys still appear quite bright after more than 10 hours. Batteries
should be
replaced when Glowbys become too dim for your preference. It's typical
to change batteries
every other time Glowbys are worn; for those who prefer maximum brightness,
batteries can
be changed at every wearing.
Directions
Slide barrette lid half-way open to insert one battery, then slide lid
in the opposite direction
to insert the second battery. Do NOT slide lid completely off. Batteries
must be placed +
side up in the “+” cavity and + side down in the “-“
cavity. Close lid to illuminate. When not
using Glowbys, slide the lid slightly to turn off.
